What We Do
GNCH is committed to providing welcome to the refugee families we serve. That welcome includes ensuring them a safe and well-furnished place to live. Apartment set-ups may include furniture and other household furnishings, small kitchen appliances, pots and pans, tableware, toiletries and bath supplies, cleaning supplies and implements, car seats, cribs, children’s school supplies and toys, and food for 2 weeks. In the 10 years that GNCH has been operating, 175 families/individuals have received full or partial apartment set-ups according to the agency requirements and the particular requests of the family (if they are already present). Set-ups utilize both donated and purchased items. In 2024, the value of a typical full apartment set up was approximately $3,750 plus 150 hours of labor and 175 miles for transporting goods. The value of an apartment set-up will vary depending on the size and needs of the family, but for the families themselves, it is a priceless gift.
